In this post, we will explain why to use Prosidecon sprayed cork to make your van a comfortable home on wheels.
As you may know, sprayed cork is a waterproof thermal insulation that prevents condensation, which is very common in box vans. Due to temperature differences and absorbed moisture, these vehicles often drip, leading to mold growth.
Another benefit of using sprayed cork for van lining is its fire resistance. It is well known that sprayed cork is highly resistant to flames and does not ignite.
Additionally, since it is a continuous coating without joints or seams, it creates a completely sealed yet breathable space.
Além disso, por ser um revestimento contínuo, sem juntas nem emendas, criamos um habitáculo completamente vedado, mas respirável.

What are the steps to follow for applying sprayed cork to camperize a van?
Cleaning

We need to thoroughly clean the interior of the vehicle; it must be completely free of silicones, mold, dust, and grease. This will ensure excellent adhesion.
Masking

We will remove all the seals, trims, and plastics as much as possible. When this is not possible, we will use masking tape to prevent them from getting dirty
Preparation of the sprayed cork.

“We need to mix it with a mixer for at least 5 minutes, homogenizing all parts of the bucket until we achieve a creamy product. If necessary, we can add up to 33 cl of water (only if needed).
(The mixing process of the sprayed cork is the most important; if it is not completely homogenized, the cork will not spray properly, and we will have many issues with blockages in the gun.)
Preparation of the gun for sprayed cork

We need to open the material flow to the maximum; this will allow the material to circulate freely and prevent clogs. (Recommended gun: Gahesa MP8GX with a 6mm nozzle
Application of Prosidecon sprayed cork

First, we will start with the top (roof), paying attention to cover all the nooks and crannies, spraying it from different positions.
Next, we will move on to the walls and doors.
Finally, before we begin applying the sprayed cork to the floor, we need to sweep and clean any cork that may have fallen, as it could prevent the new application from adhering directly to the metal.
We will repeat this process two or three times, depending on how well we want it to turn out.
It is very important to allow the product to dry completely before starting to apply the next coats. Let it dry for a minimum of 8 hours and ensure it is as well-ventilated as possible
Once the sprayed cork application process is complete, we will remove all protective plastics and masking tape that we used to cover elements that could not be removed, using a utility knife.
Congratulations. You have successfully insulated your van or caravan with Prosidecon sprayed cork
